Carl Beane, Red Sox Public-Address Announcer, Dies In Car Crash

Carl Beane Dead- Carl Beane, the public-address announcer for the Boston Red Sox, has died in a single-car crash in Sturbridge, MA.Carl Beane, a Massachusetts native, started in sports radio broadcasting back in 1972, and has been the regular PA announcer at Fenway Park for every home game since 2003.

Best-known for his voice at Fenway, Beane was also featured in the “baseball experience” exhibit at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. According to his website, Carl Beane also worked regularly with elementary schools, and was a narrator for Talking Books at the Perkins School for the Blind.

The crash occurred at 12:45 pm on Wednesday, roughly 25 yards off-road, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. The 59-year-old Carl Beane was the sole passenger in the crash. It’s not known at this time what the cause of the crash was, but according to NECN, Beane’s SUV crossed the double solid lines before leaving the road and crashing into trees.
